Apparently, Matt and Dale Jr. are running 'throw back' paint schemes from their rookie seasons.

Picture of the paint scheme is on the JGR website. Wrong number on the car. I say Stenhouse and Matt swap numbers just for this race. I bet Joe Gibbs and Jack Roush could make that happen. Great looking paint scheme by DeWalt though.

Go get #40 Matt!

One last go around. I think I'm ready.

And oh my goodness, I love this throwback paint. The fact that it's the same sponsor and not just the colors makes this THE throwback of throwbacks.

Things have come full circle. I just want one more win...and one more flaming (literally) burnout.

I remember years ago coming here on Friday afternoons to discuss the qualifying. Then Nascar messed that up too.

GO MATT - ONE MORE!!!

I did not think he'd qualify 4th after that practice, so this is cool.

Tomorrow we look for great results (esp 10 lap avg) in final practice. This will tell us who has the best cars for the race on Sunday. This because final practice and the race are at about the same time of the day and they will be focused on race trim and race speed at that time. I say the jury is still out on everyone except Junior starting at the back because of an engine change and Danica starting way back in the field, as usual. Junior could be fast enough to make another top 10, but I predict a bunch of scores to settle among all the field fillers. I just want to see Matt go out with as many wins as Mark Martin did, and I hope he drives totally determined to do so. Maybe he can give Brian France one more thing to cry about.

I had been reading the posts on this site for many years prior to my joining; I know that I will miss the commentary from all of you folks.
Driving home today, I had this silly thought; MK wins and leaves without saying a word...that would really irritate bubbles (that is such a cool moniker!)...We know he would never do that as he is a better man than us Gunga Din...

X2. That is the best paint scheme for Matt's car that I have seen yet! (Well, the Carhartt scheme was pretty good, eh?) I hope he is as fast as that car looks!

I don't really recall a Dewalt scheme that I didn't like.

Carhartt was definitely cool, especially the orange under the lights at Charlotte.

Dewalt Nano might still be my favorite, though.

If you couldn't tell, I'm kind of partial to the Nano scheme :-D .

Decent, but not great speed in final practice (8th-fastest lap, 7th-fastest 10-lap average).

I think a top 5 will be a stretch and a win would be very difficult. But if this turns out to be a wreck fest or if a crazy strategy works out, we could still be in victory lane. No matter what, I will be watching to see what Matt does. As for my predictions, the 78 and the 18 are the top cars, but if Harvick is hanging around late in the top 3-4 he could win it. I also like the 2 car on crazy strategies that work. Larson and Hamlin both have top 5 cars. If Matt doesn't have it to run in the top 5, I think it would be time to try a hail Mary strategy to get the win. Anything to keep it exciting for all of us! :twocents:

Really not the day any of us would have imagined for Matt's last race. ( probably ) Was hoping he would have had a shot at the title, but that boat has sailed. I would love to see Matt win today but, the race winner will be an after story if it not one of the four in the finals for the cup. Really glad he had a chance to win last week and be able to her the fans roar and cheer for him. I guess of the four, I would like to see the #78 win it. Can't stand any of the other three. Have always loved to DeWalt schemes but my favorites have always been either the R & L or the black Carhartt ones. Go Matt!!!!!!
